Headline selection
Public publisher feeds supply original headlines and brief excerpts. Selection weighs freshness, significance and independent coverage, with publisher and subject limits. Promotional investing pitches are excluded from the homepage selection. Editors can pin, hide or reclassify stories in the published editorial settings.
Context & briefings
Possible effects are rule-based editorial context, not a personalised recommendation or a finding of causation. The live headline brief updates automatically and retains publisher links. Published Daily Biz Brief and Week Ahead editions are saved, dated snapshots. Automatic source briefings use fixed selection rules and the “Hey, It’s Biz source desk” byline, with a preparation disclosure. Individually written editions and original analysis follow the private draft, review and approval workflow. Original analysis has a public byline, linked evidence and any preparation disclosure. Changes to published pieces include an update or correction note. Our explainers provide separate, original background.
Data & timeliness
Economic observations come from BLS and ONS. If the BLS endpoint is unavailable, the named fallback uses FRED’s public-domain BLS series and retains that attribution. Rates and currency reference observations come from the Bank of England, the New York Fed and the ECB. Oil supply and refinery observations come from EIA; rig counts come from Baker Hughes. Each series shows its reference period and check date. Cached observations retain their original date.
Company financials come from SEC XBRL disclosures, with compatible quarterly and annual periods, reported currencies and filing links. Quarterly cash flows can be derived by subtracting cumulative amounts with the same fiscal start. Operating margin and calculated free cash flow show their formulas; these industrial-company calculations are excluded for banks and insurers. Each metric retains its own period, which can differ from other rows. Missing or incompatible concepts remain unavailable. Debt labels identify the exact reported concept. Market valuations are supplied within attributed TradingView displays.
Release results & source health
Release results show actual and previous readings and changes observed from this site’s first capture. A first capture is a baseline, not a reconstructed historical first-release vintage. Collection time is separate from the observation period and any official release date. No analyst consensus or beat/miss is invented.
Source health records scheduled checks, open warnings and recoveries. Repeated failures update the existing warning. A low-frequency observation is not stale merely because its reference period is older; the successful source check has its own interval.
Market displays
TradingView supplies optional embedded quotes, charts, heatmaps and movers with its own attribution and data delays. Display availability depends on the exchange and symbol. A London company’s US-listed ADR is labelled separately in US dollars.
Calendar
Events come from selected official schedules and confirmed company announcements. Earnings calls and results releases are separate events. A passed schedule time is not proof of publication. No consensus estimate is inferred from prior data. Subscribe to the calendar feed for published updates; individual downloaded events remain snapshots.
Archive
The archive grows from launch and preserves attributed headline metadata, short excerpts and links. Related coverage is matched conservatively. Publication times are publisher-supplied; missing times are labelled. Story timelines show the sequence of reporting, not verified causal steps.
